    Workin my way through stuff we scored a few weeks ago and I cant figure out what this stuff is. It takes one or two swings then blows apart. Almost has a pear smell to it and its freakin light! The bark in the background is oak. KIMG0053.JPG KIMG0054.JPG

    Im still new to this but that yellowish inside looks like possibly poplar. Lets see what the more experienced members say

    Might be tulip poplar, but that is not a true poplar and is really a type of magnolia. Scott would know. He mills that stuff.

    If you have any with the purple like the top split in the photo that is a dead give away.

    I was also thinking poplar but i've never dealt with the stuff. Thanks guys

    Its like burning paper I have a bunch of it and use it on the bottom to help get things going.

    That sure does look like ash bark more than poplar.

    It often does, but the color and grain of the wood is a dead give away. Tulip "poplar".

    Doesn't do bad in a Blaze King, I still got 24hrs in my King with it. Now on high, that's a different story! Kinda like burning paper then!
