well my dad came up and we sharpened brush hog blades and re- installed.. then got out pressure washer and washed under side of mower deck who knows how long it's been.. then washed 500 square feet of deck.. then wife did 400 sq feet of concrete breezeway while I cleaned out BBQ grill ... not on plan but it's done now I got to find this 30 dollar tip that makes it easier...

Just tried to go fill up a gas can at the nearest gas station. Yeah, that was a mistake. There are a million people in the mountains this week end. So, no mowing today, maybe some brush clearing instead, I have fuel for that. Need to take advantage of the pleasant weather.

Truck is ready to roll, happy to report that all work went smoothly and even had time to get the rear brakes done on my FIL's Honda Accord. It's a little warm out so I popped inside to look up a part for the water softener and might have dozed off.....

I installed heating/cooling system on a house that was lost due to a dryer vent fire.

    (In a former life!)

    Keep 'em cleaned out, folks!

An older friend stopped by Friday after trying to track me down for a few days.

He wanted some help with wood, Of course I told him....how much do you need?

    "No, its for you!"

Someone was putting an addition on their house and had dropped some trees (maple, ash and cedar) and just wanted the wood gone. Set it up for this morning and away we went.

YARD TREES. Yup. Any warning flags here; anyone, anyone? :picard:

Just had the chain sharpened and sure enough, found a couple spikes side by side, in one of the first chunks of cedar I was cutting! :hair:

That wood will be extra special this winter....

Whew....sitting down at the end of a long weekend. Lots of work, but we got a lot accomplished.

First of all for those who keep track like yooperdave and Eric VW among others, I made two trips to Menards and walked out of there with NO laundry detergent! :)

We took all the branches from the ash to the tree dump yesterday. The trailer was packed! Also took the grindings from the tree stumps to the wood lot. It was another trailer full load.

Hauled the box elder that I bucked and split at the wood lot to the house and got it stacked yesterday. In return I took a small load of the ash that I bucked yesterday to the wood lot. Split about a third of the load before church this morning. I wont need it for a couple years so it will get stacked there. I made it to church just in time to ring the bell. I'm doing the ushering at church this month so no slacking for the next few weeks.

We got two more sections of the fence put up yesterday and today, and my bride started to stain what we have installed. Boy those boards soaked up the stain so I'm sure Menards will see me again soon!

Sitting back on a heating pad now, getting ready to listen to all the neighborhood fireworks. :)

Yes. Gas fireplaces which will likely spoil me. Unfortunately my wood burning days are probably on hold for a good while. Wood storage will be extremely limited too. Let's just say 12-20 cord CSS won't exactly fit in with the neighborhood decor. Should we put in a backyard fire pit however, I see no reason not to keep a proper facecord at the ready. :D

So after telling my story of my clogged dryer vent mentioned earlier to a few firefighters, they all say the dryer vent is the number 1 house fire starter. I'm starting to realize how lucky I was to smell it getting hot.

We all clean out our chimneys, but just take a moment to clean your dryer vent too please. Your 6 inch chimney brush will probably work for most of the run. I used my sooteater and an electric leaf blower.

    Fixed.
Our safety dude at work is also a fire captain...he has said before that if you take away chimney fires, cooking fires, dryer fires, and improperly used extension cords, they'd hafta use Stabil and battery tenders in the fire trucks for the lack of use.
I try to clean the dryer and the vent annually. Recently my wife said the dryer was making a nasty racket. I went down and turned it on and yup, sounded like it was gonna come apart. I tore into it and found the plastic squirrel cage that pulls the air through the dryer completely full of lint...that was the noise...it was so out of balance from all the lint that it was shakin around in there like a 3 legged dog. There is no way it was moving any amount of air like that...VERY little actually. I spent an hour or so cleaning it out mainly because the whole front had to come off to get to the blower. I asked her why she hadn't mentioned it not working right recently, she said it had been working fine...if so I have no idea how because it sure looked like the air flow had been restricted for some time. I really don't like the design of the lint trap on this Whirlpool dryer.
This is an electric dryer...the only kind I've ever had, but I've heard that dryer fires are more common with gas dryers? Either way, its not surprising that plugged vents cause lots of fires...ever tried dryer lint for fire starter? POOF! :fire:

Monin all... :coffee::flipeggs:... rolled our old MTD rider out to the road yesterday with an "as is" sign on it. Needs wrenchin'. Asked $150. Thought we're never gonna sell it. Guy knocks on the door at 5, offered $130... sold. I trailered it over to his place couple miles away, and there was an older MTD he was going to use for parts. Love it when a plan comes together... :dancer:
