Pretty lousy weather here this long weekend for working outside. Either hot and muggy, or raining. They say we're getting "lake effect" showers. Our tomatoes are loving it anyway. But, I got no choice: I hired a sawyer the other day. Local guy who went to the same HS as me; lives about 3 miles away. He's going to start next weekend. So I needed to get the firewood in the backyard sorted out from the saw logs and make room to stage a few more before he gets here. I bought some Doug Fir the other day to deck out my new wood trailer. The bed is 7' x 50" wide, so 14' 2x10s worked out perfectly. No time to even bolt it down yet though - pressed it into service today already. This was the red pine that Barcroftb climbed and took down to pave the way for the monster maple to come down. It was going to be in the way of my new pole barn too. Kinda crooked though so it's firewood. Bandit loves the fresh pine smell. Maple - about a face cord just from the brush so far. This pile is going to get a lot bigger tomorrow. Got most of the ash cut up except for the top of this log. 20' before the first branch. That was another one that got the Brad treatment. About a cord of that so far I think.
Nice job on the wagon! That fir should hold up to some beating! As for our weather it's been terrible! I went out this morning at 6 and been doing stuff between the showers today but the 98% humidity makes it tough!
What maple was that? Was it this guy? I remember that maple. It was a ton of work photographing the whole process... boy I sweated that day...
Dang man... Guess it is getting a little beat up... I've made a lot of firewood on that thing. Maybe I'll make the next one out of black locust.
Oh I gotcha yer talking about the dog.. I thought you were implying that the sawbuck was low quality or something. Yeah he's 13 lbs now you must get some bug rats in MI..
I've seen rats in the factory bigger than that puppy, probably wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen them with my own eyes
That picture looks very Australian, going by the hats and the 40 speed sign. 8 blokes standing around watching a machine work, yep very Aussie. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
