    Well, I snuck out with my boot on and built this milking stand for the sheep. Foot felt fine. Now it's time for rest, ice and elevation.

    They told you the throbbing pain isn't necessaily an indicator of bone healing, right ?

    If they told you to stay off it for x amount of days and it is x amount of days you should be all right.
    Risking breaking a a partially mended and weak injury is not wise. You certainly won't be the first in the world to beat the odds though.

    Management of Jones fractures is more art than science. Some people heal with just a stiff-soled shoe, others CAM boot, cast, or rarely primary ORIF. Then again, 25% will have delayed or non-union. I'm trying hard to take ot easy to increase my chances of being one of the 75% that heal fine with non-operative treatment. Thanks for all the advice. I do appreciate it.

    BTW, I do have a follow up with a foot and ankle specialist Orthopedic surgeon on Friday. That will be almost 3 weeks, so we can see how the bone is healing.

    Well, had my followup with foot doc today. Bad news... Xrays show no new bone formation. A few more weeks in the boot. If still not healing, then we get a screw.

    bocefus78 There's actually two breaks in that xray. My pinky toe bone is broken acutely and my middle toe bone has a healed stress fracture that I never knew I had. HAH!

    Sounds like you might need a lag bolt on that puppy:D;)
    Smacked into a tree on a motorcycle, with my foot, took out the pegs and the break, broke my big toe, took a very long time and heal up

    Easier said than done, but take it easy and let nature take its course. I broke my foot in two places when I was around the age of young and dumb. I got lucky and never went to the doctor, crutches for a few weeks and boots for a while after that.

    Not so lucky when I shattered my elbow though.

    Ouch! Glad you were abe to be one of the lucky few that hit a tree on a bike and survived. I lost an aquatinance that way. Speed and trees don't mix.
