So here are the pics, to prove it happened. 6 tons of pellets in the yard this morning. Besides the Bag and saran wrap that the pellets come in, I covered the whole thing with a heavy duty tarp, then wrapped the heck out of it with the saran type wrap. Although the tarp had one puddle of water that had seeped thru - nothing got past the tarp.

These are the pellets that were already in the garage from last year.

The pellets unwrapped except for stock wrapping. Everything was dry as a bone - even the damaged bags at the bottom. Not even any condensation under the tarp.

After filling the truck 1/2 ton at a time, I'm finally down to 1 lone ton left in the yard. That was the plan for today - to move 5 tons. That last one will have to stay outside until the shed gets moved (shed is to the left just past that upended cart), then I should be able to store it in there. However, I still DO have to move this ton to the other side of the tree (on the right) for the next project that should start sometime in July.

The basement is wicked full . . .

And so is the garage. Not pictured are two bags that had some holes but the pellets were fine so I set them aside to tape them up.

There are 5 bags of sawdust sitting outside. But for $100/ton, and as bad as the wrappings looked at the bottom, way less damage than I expected.

Dropped to 54 degrees overnight. Love the cool and dry nights, makes for great sleeping. Left windows open last night so the house was nice and cool this AM.

gypsy moths have been devastating to the oaks around here. bare trees everywhere you look. made the mistake of parking the landscape tractor under one last week. the caterpillar poop was everywhere! happy to see they all got killed off in the last rain we had Friday night. some virus they get if the timing is right. dead ones everywhere.

finished the form work Saturday on the first of three aprons around the engine building. 55' X 10', nearly 11 yards. it was poured around 6AM this morning. The purpose of these is to allow us to wheel out flywheel engines on carts and run them for shows. we are all set up with sockets for posts to rope off the areas. pic later when I get out there to see it.

Sunday I had to replace the fuel filter and air filters on the tractor as it was beginning to starve for fuel (yea, I put it off too long and the black goo got started! good thing I use synthetic oil cause it need an oil change as well). I dug for two schedule 40 roof leader drains on the front to a low area. almost done and backfilled. I need these in place before I pour the front apron next week. the front section will be 48' X 10' we will pour the base for the Fairbanks exhaust along with the front - Ed is getting the steelwork ready to go in that pour. I did the formwork, and Dave did the rebar tie-ins.

The soggies left for a day or so and it isn't too hot so the boss won't come home growling from strawberry picking, I'm taking a by this season as the land is rather uneven at the farm, It is bad enough here at home and I don't want to screw up how things are progressing.

Not so fast, I think it is 66 for SSAN If you collect before then, you are really limited in the amount you can earn. Otherwise you have to pay back to SSAN 1 dollar of every 2 that you collected in SSAN for that amount over the min. ($15,720) allowed before payback.Don't forget that you wife's income will also have an impact on all of this. My retirement comes in the form of annuities which is different than earnings. Once you are over 66, you can earn any amount you want without the payback penalty. I had a government job with the older form of retirement so I didn't pay SSAN on that income. But I had second jobs and did pay enough quarters for SSAN. But because of my government income, my earned SSAN income was cut to less than half of what I was otherwise entitled. They just ram it up your backside with no recourse.

EXCEPT, in the year you turn 66, the max allowable income before penalty that you mentioned ($15720) jumps up to over $42000 and the penalty if you go over is $1 for every $3 you earn.. So I'm drawing SS now but won't turn 66 until Oct. I did get dinged about $90/month by taking it 10 months early, but it will take 17 years before I lose money on the deal. I didn't know this until I sat down with SSA. They were the ones that told me.

Larry, the amount for early SS filers has gone up to $16920 in 2017. Still not a huge amount, but allows me to collect SS and work 3 days/wk. That pays quite a few bills.
