I know your blaze king sounds great I just wondered if you'd ever put thought in a OWB in light of this 1/4 billion BTU's number you just put up?
Maybe down the road...I definitely like that idea for sure. This past year was my first winter here, so figured the wood stove project was at least a step in the right direction. I'd like to put in a 15-20kW solar array too, but can't do everything all at once unfortunately.
Always better to overestimate how much you'll need than underestimate it. Leftover wood will just accumulate and get better with time. As long as it's properly stored.
No certainly not and I really only asked because there are so many on here that use an OWB or plan to have one because of their square footage. Not only that but the amount of wood that these can hold plus the option of heating your water? Its a hard thing to fathom for me as its like building a pit fire and fitting a metal shroud over it! Often I hear just long burns in the burner and its less work in terms of size of your cuts. Unfortunately a lot of the OWB folks I have read about were not burning seasoned wood, freaks their neighbors out some distance away so that reputation is still needing some work. Otherwise I gather you have the necessary components to make that transition when you are good and ready! You get what it means to put these projects in mind I am ALL for you and your hard work, that's admirable at the bare minimum! Hope the wood has you busy and you're looking forward to the burning season! I know I am!
