I prefer HD anyways, Lowes is just behind my house so I go there out of convenience. Will check it out. iphone 6 compatible??
I got the general as well. It's more or less just something to give me an excuse to make more trips to the stacks and fiddle with my wood!
Amazon.com: general firewood moisture meter Good grief, Amazon is proud of their General moisture meter! I'm going to Lowe's and pocket the $370.00 difference.
Come on, you kids had to know this was coming sometime: "The best device for determining the moisture content of firewood is a multi-year calendar"
Ok that thing is different cus it can store like readings from memory and the percentage is higher. Anything higher than like 48% on the general i havr it wont register. Just goes _ _. _%
I have the general from Lowes. I'm three or four years ahead and got mine mostly to verify moisture content variabilities in dead standing oak. AT first I was going to keep the tops of the trees stacked separate from the lower trunks as they were quite heavy and rain soaked but decided it was too much work and bought the meter to document drying times of the heavy wet stuff. In three to six months the moisture content as a whole had equalized. So it came in handy and I'll still split a piece now and then and see how it is doing relatively.
Often because the weather is staying good, its a much cooler day today but it was 96 sunday plenty o' heat. So I had to envision my wood snapping, cracking and popping in the sun. Not sure if that really happens, but my splits have been definitely drying rapidly. Its just handy to know that even though the outside of wood looks dry and the round has big checks in it, its like a tootsie pop in the middle but it doesn't take long for the inside to turn ready in this heat we get.
