But Kimberly, if this thread was to be deleted, then all of your threads should be deleted since they do go off topic as well.

However, I do believe all of your threads should remain simply for the education factor. Some posts, though they may seem silly or trivial may be a point of interest to someone in the future. So maybe instead of wanting them deleted, they should all be combined, or even put in a 'Special' area all by themselves like was done with 'Resources.' This way no one would have to search out your posts since they would be all in one folder. I can think of quite a few different titles for such a folder.

Sometimes questions, as stupid as they might seem on the surface can yield a wealth of information. That's even with the less than desirable responses or comments. Think of what the end results have yielded to you with information and tangible goods. Anyway, these threads are for learning and teaching so even if they started off about splitting firewood and ended up talking about the Constellation of Orion , there is an education factor that still remains in all the subjects, and more often than not they are linked as part of the process even though on the surface they might not seem to be.

I use both ways. Inside the shed I try to stack bark side down, and with the stacks outside, I try to stack bark side up or at least the tops layer or so even though I also top cover. But, if you split larger rounds into the pie shape, sometimes it's not possible to stack it either way. Then it's bark side to the left or right.

That could almost be another topic of discussion on it's own. The debate as to which is better and why they feel compelled to stack it that way. Bark Up or Bark Down! Left side or right?

Maybe all of the Kimberly threads could be combined, it would give some of those pellet threads a run for their money. It could be 100+pages.

I understand if the bark faced north it would be beneficial. So the fibers of the split face are being hit by the full sun and the prevailing southwesterly winds ... or are you confusing left/right with north/south...???

No need to delete. And sorry for my hiatus. I have been swamped at work, plus the family, plus the warm weather :dex:, etc...

All threads go off topic. The best threads here have all drifted left of center. It's what makes this place special. Your thread stays at the top of the page because people care enough about you to talk nonsense; )

Well, I hit pay dirt tonight...wandering around the local Rite Aid waiting on my wife to finish shopping and I stumbled across a full line of Utz...I picked the "kettle cooked original" to try...haven't opened them yet, too full from dinner. Oh, and they were on sale..2 for $5!

Pretty much...sometimes a well timed :fart: will do it!
I save splitter trash to help build cold start fires too. The lil stove in the fireplace gets lots of cold starts every spring/fall. Once its cold enough to switch to the wood furnace there is very little need to start new fires...pretty much full time at that point.

Hehe :woodsign: gas! Someone needs to capture that and post it here.

I Started building my splitter trash pile too so I need a better container than a pile like that. If its gonna be dry I think setting up some hardware cloth on a pallet will do. Ive stocked plenty of kindling stuff in my garage though so I really dont need the splitter garbage until the cows come home.

I use the splitter trash to get the kindling goin...that's why I don't use too much fire starter, don't need it. I do keep some around for those times where for whatever reason, things just aren't co-operating and I don't wanna fool around with it very long...want fire...now!

I don't remember if it was you who posted but someone did about just stuffing that stove full of their splitter garbage, wife helped clean up yard and whatnot. Then they put it on a bed of coals and its off!
I figure that stuff is the ONLY and best kind of garbage to burn!
