All of a sudden a Cherry tree just showed up. I was happy to have it, but not in this heat and humidity, I cut up the tree in the yard and will go back for the last 20 feet in sea of poison ivy in the fall. I'm glad I wasn't mowing when and where it fell. I grabbed my son on the first day of his summer vacation to haul the brush. Now I remember why I don't cut in the summer.
That's the best part, although the branches did take down about 20 feet of deer fence around the garden. But I made the repairs, so all good.
Agree about cutting in the summer heat.... bugs, foliage, sweat and sawdust sticking to Ya just don't add up to fun. I'd rather cut in cold conditions. Sent from my Z832 using Tapatalk
So bundled up cutting that tree no wonder you were sweating. I too like to wait until fall. But I did cut a couple saplings yesterday for stacking wood on.

It is true, the ants seem to love the Cherry, they come with the wood. I saw with a can of ant spray at the ready to nail em. I cut with a long sleeve shirt to keep the sawdust off of me and then I can peel it off (sweat) when I'm done. Saves on the itching. Experience.
The ants at my place seem to favor maple and poplar. But they're not very good at directional felling - maybe I need some of them crooked leaner ones. Nice score NH mountain man ! Looks like a decent amount of wood too. And ya gotta love the smell.
I love an easily accessible cherry... Nice score man. If your goal was to make everyone on the board seriously jealous...you've hands down succeeded with at least this guy.
