Not the cutting end, the rear handle. The log rolled and pinched the bar and the saw shot straight back and drove the rear handle into my shin. Ouch that hurt! I forgot about it for an hour or two then felt something in my pant leg. Thought something crawled up my leg...when I started investigating I realized my leg swelled up and had a big lump where the saw hit me. Looked pretty bad Saturday evening. Had a huge bump and was rock hard Well... that was Saturday...a lot of the swelling has gone down but the bruise got way worse today Be careful out there, Hoarders! It happened fast!! I've never had a saw kick back like that!! Thought I should share so maybe someone else would be better prepared. On the bright side, I did finish my 2019/20 stack Saturday just before dark.
Yeah, that doesn't look like it feels good at all. Bone bruises on shins suck. Heck, my hip butt driveway fall still hurts just a little, and that was a few weeks ago. Heal up quickly TD!
.... Ouch.... That must of hit you just right for that to happen... Glad that it was the cutting end of the saw and that wasn't a cut... Heal up TD!
That really smacked ya dint it TurboDiesel Tim... ugh. Glad it wasn't the other end of the saw. "Took me a bit to figure out what hit me" ... sounds like me first thing every monin...
Tim, this has be a bit worried. Be well aware of what is happening and if you get much pain, I would highly recommend seeing a doctor. Why do I say this? A friend of ours had something similar and when the black and blue spread like yours, he suddenly got a blood clot. Found out it can be fatal. So please, keep aware and do as necessary.
Still sore but getting better every day. Still a little swollen but not as hard as it was. Thinking the bruise drained out. I'll keep an eye on it. Got home a little early so I'll go take a look at that red oak thats down.
Hey TD, little late seeing this. Hope you are feeling better, that hit was a doosey Thankfully it wasnt the business end of the saw and make sure things are still getting better
I'm no hematoma expert but you should be sitting with the leg elevated to heart level to help keep the pressure off those burst blood vessels. And, those pools of blood can become infected. Those patches of blood near an impact are kinda common with contact sports . iirc, I put heating pads/bottles on mine until the blue patches went away. Too long ago.
It's been one week. Still tender and swollen. And the bruise has drained down to my foot and toes. Even my foot is swollen. Can still see the knot on my shin.
