Man, it is really a great place to visit! Take your time once you pass any stream while you're there. There is one that flows through Keystone and you can see the trout laying in it! Very nice area-very nice! Drive around to check out the smaller towns-lots of history. And be sure to drive Iron Mountain Road....the tunnels frame Mt. Rushmore in their view.
Pic #3 is a shot of the Iron Mt Road which leads to the tunnels (one of which pic #1 is looking through) Pic #2 is a shot of beautiful scenery that you will have to endure around Mt. Rushmore. Pic #4 is in Custer state park....don't forget to bring treats (bread) to feed the burros along the roadside! (watch out for ticks on them too!)
We spent 6 days in the Rapid City SD area taking in the sights. Once we left home we saw very few trees until we got into the Black Hills area. Drove thru the badlands, not many trees there. Saw My Rushmore, Crazy Horsemountain, Needles highway, wildlife loop in Custer state park. Weather was great and we had a good time. Came home to temps in the 80's and 90's with high humidity. Not getting much wood work done.
