Looks like the loggers left you guys a few lifetimes worth of wood. Is there always that much leftover? Seems somewhat odd.
Great you got to go along and beautiful pictures. I wish my wife was into wood making. She could care less until it is cold. To her credit, she did tote wood in Jan-March when I was laid up from surgery.
The wood left behind is considered too small or not sound enough for market. If the demand is high enough, a truck comes around and gets the waste for chips but it has to be the right species for chipping. The hemlock we got was left in a small patch for seeding the area but high winds blew it down.
