That's a good idea, especially for welding challenged guys like me. Having my work at optimum angle lets me at least stick stuff together. Of course, "welders" can plant a perfect bead at any angle, at 3 in the morning, hanging upside down, in the rain… I've had the chance to work with a couple over the years… one was a certified pipe fitter welder on hazard rated stuff. Guess he worked on many jobs that were x-rayed. I know there's at least a few on FHC that can weld like that. Very impressive, no matter which type welding they're lighting up…
I think having it spring loaded and having the foot pedal push down to release the tension would be an improvement.
I think I have most of the material to build one and when the winter breaks I think I will. I see that coming in handy for lots of things.
It's an old welder's saying... Well actually its "I can weld anything BUT the crack of dawn and a broken heart".
