Raining and high of 50 tomorrow.. load of pine getting the water heated up to carry through the day. Trying very hard to resist the urge to put a couple ash rounds in there to carry some coals over till tomorrow night when it's time to relight.. must.. not.. burn..hardwood..in June...

the high yesterday where I left in CA was literally double what todays high was here today in the low 50's. Not sure which I enjoyed more! Just wish I had some dry wood on the porch tonight, not next years shoulder wood wet in the stacks!

55ºF Outside right now, but I've been pretty good about going back and closing any windows I've opened so no requests for heat.

We had one fire last night which took the dampness out of the basement and added some heat up here.

48ºF outside here. Rainy, raw, cold-feeling.
I found the stove all cleaned out. Looks really nice, clean window and everything.
A quick short pine fire would be nice.

We still have around eight splits inside so we'll have a fire tonight and maybe tomorrow morning just so we can get rid of it.

Good point that top covering is nice as it keeps the wood dry. We can get wood off the stack right during or after a rain and there is no problem getting it to light and/or burn.

If I had cleaned up the stove real nice like it is I'd probably have started a fire without a second thought. Just cleaned it again when it looks like this cold weather might be done for a while.
I could have just started a fire. No big deal
Or I could admire the nice cleaning job and maybe even make a point of how nice a job it still is.
    Brownie points are brownie points.
It's not like it is January and we need a fire.

It went down to 48° last night. At noon it was only up to 55° and 63° at 5:00. 68° inside right now.

I will NOT light a fire in June. :hair:
