    Greetings all,

It's been super busy here the last few weeks, but busy is good, busy pays the bills.

Natalie (oldest) took the written Driving test Thursday, 15 minutes and she was all set. We are training up the next 2 weeks for her on-road test, I'm sure she will do fine. She's been driving / behind the wheel for 4 years now, but w/ college and her summer work schedule, we haven't found the time to dedicate to her getting officially on the road, until now.

Emily (youngest) is enjoying Japan, and took her mid-term exams this week. Time flies when you're having fun, just another 8 weeks and she'll be back in the states.. And home for about 10 days, before heading back to UNH for her fall semester.

Finally got a break in the weather to mow the back/front yards this week, we still have a lot of tree damage on the property from the May 15 snow storm here. Many trees have broken crowns / are topped, from the weight of the snow. Mostly Birches, sigh.

There's a few I'd like to try saving, but they need to be professionally topped-off w/ a boom, and that's not in the budget right now. :( * I ordered a rope saw off of Am..zon to try to save one white Birch @ the back of the driveway, we'll see how that goes.

Still burning pellets here, pretty much every day for at least a few hours to take the chill off in the am, we'll be burning later tonight / for the next few days coming up.

I hope everyone is doing well and trying to enjoy the rare good Spring weather (at least around here), looking forward to some quality time doing yard & garden work (and drinking Beer ) if it ever stops raining, LOL.

Have a fun day all !

Up early as usual - but way earlier than I wanted (4 am - watched Ron Hazelton). Left on the bike at 8am to go to the monthly HOG meeting. Rode home and mowed - which included mulching leaves I had dragged out of the shrub garden so that they would dry (have more to remove, but that will wait).

Then met with a local hardscaper (doesn't work with live stuff) and settled on how I want to widen my driveway and do a few other things to make it more practical for my needs. Unfortunately that means I have to take out a very old lilac and the forsythia at the corner of the house (I have a love/hate relationship with) it, but it must be so. He is also taking out a couple of stumps from where I cut down some small cedar trees and then build up a retaining wall at the corner of the house. He will finish off hard-packing the new widened section. Usually I am planting stuff so just about everyone will be shocked to the core when I post pictures of just taking out green and flowering stuff. Oh well, when they volunteer to come do my snowblowing and clean all snow/ice off my truck every day, then they can have a say in what I do with that area ;).

Went to Agway and grocery store. After putting away said groceries I planted the petunias I had brought home so now I have a couple of railing flower boxes for some color on the back porch. I will admit I cheated and bought one planter already filled in, so I only actually potted 2 starter plants and a decorative pepper plant that I had overwintered indoors. Started sprinkling as I was finishing up the potting, so called it a day for outside work.

Planted my 2 Early Girl tomato plants this morning before the rain came. The big farm down the road was just planting all theirs, so I figured it was time.

Well we did get a 60 mile ride in and didn't get a drop on us. After the ride wifey did a little grocery shopping while I did a little welding on the mower, so the bar that keeps the back of the deck level will stay on. Did a little mowing before a steady rain dampend my enthusiasm. Son and family were here for dinner. Grandson is almost 6 months old and is getting to be a real pistol. Love to see him smile and make noises. Son is doing very well, health is great, has a good job that they love him at and a great offer from another place. Watched some NASCAR and NHRA . Life is OK.

    Doggy

    Just like his grandpa!! :D

    That's awesome!! Glad to hear.

Got to watch the race before heading down to the school for the awards ceremony. Joey was able to get some pond fishin in and scored a 3 pounder(I'll post a pic later). He honored in 4 of his classes. I need to set up a youtube and edit the vid. Wound up just recording the whole event for him. He was busy at the sound board . He gets extra credit for it from one of his coarse. I'll let him edit the vid and he'll get some points for class.

    Happy Monday!!
