Now just notice that funny looking stuff that also climbed this tree and his hand is really close! Yes, we talked him into taking a shower after he returned to ground level. Thanks for climbing Barcroftb

That darn ivy. Grrrr.... I hope it didn't negatively affect any cutting in the canopy.

Thanks Dennis it was my pleasure to help out a great guy like Shawn Curry ! That wasn't really all that bad especially since the ivy wasn't leafed out.

That makes me cringe. If someone told me they had a log load of all oak perfectly straight poles and I could have them for free but they had that on them I would say no thank you and not even think twice. I despise ivy.

Having done this for 35 years I just have to ask.

Do you always wear your spikes with the pads around your calves? Doesn't the strap dig into your shins.

I've never seen anyone wear them like that.

That's gotta be one of the most diplomatic ways of saying: "you put your spurs on backwards you jack wheel" UncleJoe . All I can say is newb mistake from being out of practice. Guess I "put the climb before my spurs" as my old boss used to tell me.

I only did it 10 years and that was awhile ago. The climb pictured was the first climb of the day (and first in a year). I didn't notice it until I got started. It never was really all that uncomfortable for me though.

There's urushiol in every part of the ivy plant all year round. It's not even safe to dig up the roots in Winter.
Fall is supposedly the worst time to mess with it as the EOL leaf cells fracture more readily releasing the oil.

Those poison ivy vines that are dry on the outside are not too bad, I get poison ivy easy and I have to drug them around to throw them out in the woods but if you break the outer layer or even brush the leaves you going to start itching.
Note : as a precaution my gloves get thrown away

If you're out there messing around in the woods and don't know your getting into poison ivy, then you have to take a pizz in the woods it can get very uncomfortable to say the least

That just makes my skin crawl seeing that big thick vine!:hair::( Me and Scotty Overkill did about 20 ash trees for a lady last fall along the fence row of her pasture and about 15 of the trees were absolutely covered with the itchy stuff! I am talking bushed out 5 ft most of the way up the tree! Yup I got it. I keep telling him you can't pay me enough to cut these tree's down but for some stupid reason I keep doing it!:headbang::headbang::doh::picard:
