Myself, I was wondering why Backwoods Savage was no longer posting....on another site. I googled his name and it showed up here. Figured it was the same guy since the posts were regarding seasoned wood, bicycles, and (ugh) splitting vertical! Checked out the site myself and joined shortly after. The other site seemed to be getting a little too cliquey for tastes...if you didn't fit in with their beliefs.
Yeah, I remember that Dave. Once again, thanks. I know there were a few others looking for me and did a search to find this forum.
I've been looking on these other sites, they do have a bit of a mean streak sometimes when it comes to someone's experience. We do have VERY knoweldgeable people here. I thank every one of you for your "cents of worth". IT really helps when the experience has fit the bill and becomes useful for that person and not this tirade that sounds like a bunch 9 year olds fighting over the cokes and dr peppers they just bought at the 5 and dime.
I was searching for info on my new Echo 590 saw, and found this site. I post on them all, but this one is much nicer, and the only one where I ever met someone in the flesh.
Scotty Overkill talked me into it and I am glad he did, I've met a lot of great people and learned a lot of stuff as well. He's right it really is one big family! It's nice to know that strangers can come together with common interests and are willing to help out other people that they may have never even met but just talked to on the sight.
That's it I quit, I only joined for the donuts, and I still haven't got one yet! I have never been to any other sites and found this one, and still don't know where you guys were back then, but I found you guys searching wood on google. I lurked and and read along off and on for while, and then I joined. I'm not on any kind social media and didn't even know how to post at first, never mind add pictures. I got into a few threads going back and forth with Eric VW and figured, well, at least the folks here won't think I'm the crazy one.. I have never been so glad I met you all, thong thingys and all. By the way, my wife calls this site " face book for firewood" and neither of us are on facebook. So you wonderful folks are all I've got, and I guess you're stuck with me. Thanks Eric VW and all the rest of you who made me feel welcome right from the get go.
Oh great, now I've got to clean the slobber and tongue marks off the computer screen, not to mention I'll be thinking about that chocolate donut all day...
