Cottage was way too hot over the weekend due to burning the 13.

    99 lbs wants a fire, Yooperdave builds a fire.....:salute:

Loaded the Buck with some Red Oak yard scraps this morning, Was 67 inside and 47 outside. Burning the branches that fall from my yard trees helps me keep my stacks in tact while still using the stove for heat.

I thought I was finally done burning, but I ended up lighting a fire last night and getting rid of the last three splits that were on my porch. Cold and rainy all day, so no solar gain.

Yesterday was my daughters 3rd birthday, so I had her facetime my dad in Florida. He was surprised to see me in a sweatshirt, and shocked when I told him I had a fire going. He's gonna be in for a shock when he comes up for a visit in a week if the temps dont rise!

We haven't had a fire in a couple of weeks, we've had the same cool weather in the 40's & 50's but we've been working so hard it was good weather to be doing it in. Mrs. Mt. Man has been transplanting perenials, and mulching and weeding the beds. She just got the seeds and veggie transplants in also. I had been dropping off logs and rounds up front from the trips to get get them, so I spent some time cutting them into moveable sizes and hauling them down to be proccessed. So the fuel that heats you twice, heated me with no burning needed. If felt good to get it done while it was still cool, I hate sweating when it is 90.:)

Right where I want to be.
Wife mentioned it was cool last night, so of course we had a fire.
Feeling a little cool again this am, so I'm out to grab some pine for another this a.m.
We're usually done burning by now, but it's not unusual to have a fire even into early June. I just got done moving the pine into the front of the shed, so it's easy to get.
    Fire, here we come.

I'm thinking of pulling the fires of the OWB this week, but it drops down into the 40 every night and the hot water will be surely missed once the water heater is lit....

So, some more wood gets thrown into it....oak.

The upstairs has warmed up today but the basement is nice and cool so we'll have a small fire tonight just so we can knock the humidity down some.

We have eight splits in the basement along with another 16 in the back of the rhino, it's all wood that's been covered for about three years for cooking on the outside fireplace.

Not still heating but the weather here in southern Nh has been so cloudy, dank and cold for the majority of the past several weeks. Is this what the PACNW is like? I don't know how those people live in a place like that.
