    Lol.

My didier splitter is probably no more than 14-15 tons, and it had no issue splitting 30" yard bird honey locust.

Oh yeah that reminds me of the time I was out splitting and a bird crapped on the side of my head:hair:

I think it is funny how the box stores sell 35 ton splitters. Then if you look at commercial splitters you will see them with 4, 6, and 8 way wedges on 20-25 ton splitters. Tonnage is not the the only thing to consider when buying a splitter. Wedge design is very important. My splitter has more of a knife it will slice though the tough stuff. Then also how does the ram run on the beam? You can loose tonnage there too. Splitfire uses plastic between the ram and beam to make it slide easier. The rack on kinetic splitters runs on bearings. So don't get hung up on tonnage, look at the big picture.

That chart LIES like a rug! I have had 15" pine split harder than 40" oak. My 22t Speeco has split both. The store would hate me if I seen a salesman trying to sell a large splitter to a newb as I have pics on my phone to back me up.

I just bought a 25 ton County Line and I'm breaking all the rules by splitting 50+" ash rounds. You can tell his is my first splitter. I should have noodled those big rounds.

Where in Sam Hill did you come up with this baloney? You are right in that they are just trying to get people to spend more money on the splitter.

I well remember when we bought ours and I didn't know squat about them. The manager of the store told me the 20 ton would split anything I needed to split...and he was right. Of course I was a bit shy and was afraid if I bought I might be sorry. He guaranteed if I bought and did not like, he would take it back at full price. I bought and am still using it. That was close to 30 years ago.

Now if you want an eye opener, go to a hydraulics calculator and type in the specs of your splitter. My 22t is actually around 18t. I would like to know how they get away with this?

Nobody's checking. We have long ago done away with "truth in advertising" and other forms of consumer protection. They're "job killers".

Well, they lose their leaf! I know because I've cut limbs off. Cut the limbs and no more leaf on the trunk.
