Apple tree at my parents finally heard the bell tolling. I pushed it over. The tree had produced many yellow soft apples in its time. Down by termites.

Pending. I believe the top half might be worthy of the grill for summer. I'll leave it here to do its thing. Time will tell since I plan on cutting it up tomorrow.

On another note there will be more trees coming down later. I had convinced my father to allow me to down a few trees in his small woods. There are a couple alders that which are just topping out. No leaves at the top end looks like 5-8 feet. Then a mystery tree is standing dead, really small but you could tell it was swallowed up by the canopy and the competition got too much. Very hard tree though.

Then last but surely not least a madrone tree.

This tree is healthy but it is blocking sunlight for two others. Madrone/madrona is one that will produce more out of the stump. Hardwood. We (The people of FHC) don't have information regarding the BTU's of madrona for a cord. The tree may be pretty close to one. What I could do is see if there is a public scale who is willing to help me. Pack it with half a cord, tare the trailer weight and double the 1/2 cord weight and figure the btu's? I know the math is available just thinking is this right method? Grizzly Adam
Asking if this is on par with figuring out for your BTU chart?

Madrone is known for its heat, hardness and amazing furniture. It is the only hardwood to which it grows here on the Pacific Coast specifically and doesnt pass a point in WA to CA
It is grown here but there's a misnomer that people think its rare. It is localized to this area but it is far from Rare as we are concerned. Its not a weed tree although it tends to grow on the roadsides. Unless those were planted there in the beginning...but they grow specifically more towards water. The salt.
I guess Eric VW the drill is ...this :ithappened:?

There should be enough for one small fire there. Better than nothing.

Tree down, about 2/3 top to mid was rotten shattered like glass. Maybe 10-12 feet of good live tree so probably best it came down. IMG_1779.JPG job done. The dead stuff to the left and gooder to right but its quite clean so it may work as bbq wood too. The woodboss 028 AV that tacked a small win here. Very quick fell.
