Yes, I just got in from putting more wood on the porch so we can light a few more fires. The last 3 days have been in the 80 degree temperatures and today feels cold. It was 47 and now is at 46 with possible showers coming.

Funny part is that one could easily have gotten sunburn lately and when riding the atv back to get some wood, I got cold! My ears even got cold. But, I have taken the windshield off for summer and now I wonder if perhaps I did it a bit too early. Still, this time of the year should be warm with our normal daytime temperature around 70 (actually 70 starting tomorrow). So, who needs a windshield now? Well, today, I do!

Now the funny part of this post. I decided to put wood into the stove so that it would be ready to light off later today. But, as I worked at that, my wife and I were talking so habit took over. I put wood in and then a piece of super cedar. Then without thinking, I just struck a match and lit it. So, now we have a fire in the stove... But, it won't hurt as it is cool in here and starting to feel damp with the rain coming. There is not enough wood in there we'll have to think about opening windows so we'll be fine.

It was 85 degrees in the house when we went to bed last night, so we left the windows open. 60 this morning when I woke up. I would have started a fire but I haven't kept any firewood on the front porch for a few weeks now.

Temperature is a funny thing - a couple months ago, if it was 60 degrees outside you'd call it a heat wave. But it starts to feel a little chilly after a stretch of 80+ degree days.

Seems like you can acclimate to warm temps in a few days...cold temps take a few weeks! Funny thing is that I consider anything over 75* frickin HOT and makes me wanna move north. :dennis:

Glad we started that fire earlier as it really feels nice in the house. I love that feeling of coming inside from the cool or cold air then walking into a nice warm house! Funny that I don't get that feeling when going into many homes...

Im gonna enjoy feeling the same way. Even if there is a fire going on in my house I'll still go outside to have one as well. Come back in for a good chance of warm heat.

When I got home yesterday from work IAT was 79. Today 64. Someone forgot to close the windows before she left for work this morning. I'm glad she did. I get 1 more small fire for the season.

47 outside here in Iowa and 65 in the house when I got in. Figured the family would appreciate some heat, so I got a small burn going.

82° when I went to bed last night, 59° when I got up.

It actually feels pretty good after working for 3 days in the 90's.

    No fire here.
