Ok men, y'all got my mind wandering. What results could I expect from a 362 that got Mastermind Saw treatment? I've been reading up on both Mastermind and Woods and am impressed. How much HP gain? Anyone running a ported 362?

It will put a smile on your face...Randy does great work and is a great guy to work with. He builds them to last.

The 361 and 362 are saws that take well to porting. I don't have a 362 but have ran one ported and liked it.

He did nice work on my 261 and 441. But even Randy will tell you, porting a saw doesn't make it into a bigger saw, just faster.

So you gotta ask yourself why you want that new MS461 or 661 that you are dreaming about in your other thread? If it's to cut bigger wood, go buy that bigger saw. If you want to cut wood your 362 handles easily, faster, then box that puppy up and send it. And consider yourself saved from CAD, for now.

I always liked Randy's answer when asked "which saw should I get ported?" His reply is usually "which ever one you use/like the most."

I had Terry at WickedWorksaws do my 362 and Randy do my 036... Both saws where good before the work, even gooder afterwards. It'll create a smile each time you hit the trigger... Like MM said it wont create a bigger saw, but it opens it up allows to be more efficient with what it already started with.

I've got one of those and it's pretty much my favorite firewood saw. I've also had a bone stock 036 at one point too, and a 460R. It does make more power than the 036, but it ain't no 460R.

MasterMech's advise was spot on: port the one you like the most first. But I disagree with his diagnosis regarding your CAD symptoms. ;)

I recommend you get all three and port the 362 and 461. :saw::saw: I personally don't think the 661 needs much but I might have just lucked out with mine. You can always port that one too. :D

I'm taking the ported saw plunge. Randy from Mastermind Saws has me down for September 6. Really looking forward to the results.
I know nothing about machinery and as I have stated previously, you people who work on stuff amaze me.

DexterDay had one. There's a thread or 2 on here somewhere about it.

That one is mine now. Has Mtronic, 3/4 wrap handle, saw armor, and Mastermind sticker. As stated earlier it's my favorite saw for firewood. His minty 440 Arctic came home with me too.

Lucky. I almost bought that saw. I would have if I didn't already have a 362CM.
