Used to race some with Bentley Warren in USAC Silver crown cars, but never a super. We did some pavement stuff, but mostly dirt 360 & 410 sprints.
THIS, and the smell of methanol, gets me excited....this is from Williams Grove in the 410:

And from back in the day on pavement (@ Richmond):

and the winged pavement midget at Thompson (NEMA):

And this should get Will excited....the Beer Hill Gang congratulates our driver at "the Grove":

Long day yesterday but it was soooo worth it to see my honey's oldest son graduate University of Southern Maine. Ceremony was not too long (3.5 hours) and the speakers were really good. Will has changed so much for the better since he started college, he worked his arse off to graduate.

We had really good spot by the stage for seats. Someone got in the way of my best pic of Will getting his diploma-Ahem, that would be mom, his 2 sisters and brother holding up a CONGRATULATIONS sign   1-DSC04445.JPG

Spent yesterday doing stuff for the moms. Son and I fixed momma up with some flowers, Candy and bubble bath. Stopped down and saw my mom. Gave her some hanging baskets and flowers. Helped her plant and hang the baskets. Put out her wind chimes and fixed the doggy run. Then went for an early dinner. Hope they had a great day, Plumb wore me out!! But totally worth it!! :)

Looks like we'll be sweatin by Tuesday....... :dennis: But luckily tapering off to mild by the weekend. Need to catch up on the fishin and boating. Last two weekends were pretty much a wash. We have to try out the new features of the pond skimmer. Added an auxiliary battery and a charge circuit for it. Motor has its own stand alone battery now so it will start even if we run the auxiliary down with the electronics. Need to get some type of voltage alarm for the auxiliary to warn us when the volts get too low. Then all we need to do is fire up the big mo and it will charge both the auxiliary and primary as needed. Pretty neat that the Etecs 50 amp alternator can be split in half sending 25 amps to each battery yet still keeps each battery isolated. Hopefully no more carring jumper cables??

Those are some sweet looking rides...
Followed Bentley from when he started in the 50's!!
    707 bomber.
Raced against him a few times.
Or I should say was on the track with him at the same time.
    He was incredible.

See him occasionally at the Saloon he owns in Arundel Maine..
He has contributed mucho dollars/equipment to the Northeast Motorsports museum at Loudon...

Temp says its 65ºF here, Don't feel like it much! Gloomy and overcast. But I'm enjoying the coolness. Hoping they are wrong about the mid week forecast of 80's and 90's. Maybe I can send dat up to skeet's instead...... :D

We'd like to get up there someday to check that out. Been hangin with racers since my youth. Uncle drove modifieds in NH(Charle's Brown) when I was little. Caught the bug really early and I've hung with both Wade Coles(modified) and his brother John(dirt modified). My boss(Gary Barns) used to drive mods as well at Riverside park. That was a weekend thing for many a year until they closed the track and sold the park. Another boss was Phil Stevens(Wades crew chief) and I made a chit load of machined parts for him. Got pretty good at tin knocking too. Seems Wade was in the right place at the wrong time mostly.

Been meaning to hook up with Pete when they hit Lebenon valley.

Hate to say it, but got the same forecast for Wed.+ Thurs.....85*-90*. But at least I'll get to "test" the new central A/C in the shack. Hope it kicks butt, and I can sell the portable/window units I have on CL.

Don't expect too much racing on our part at the Valley from now on......the kid moved his family and the racing operation to the Lake Norman area of NC. His father (who is the guy I started in racing with back in '69), also sold the body shop business finally last Feb., and they moved to NC also.

But we could meet up some night when the sprints are up there, either the 360's or the WoO. :drunk:

And how proud was mom and pop at this time !!

Congrats to the new nurse-it is definitely a long journey to get there!! I find it amazing the responsibilities that falls on the nurses to catch doctors errors at times. Its their job to keep the doctors from killing you and sometimes its their license on the line if they dont.
