I finally got around to stacking the little over 2 cords of Shagbark Hickory that I bagged back in February...I think I'll leave it to season until the 2018/2019 season.
Thanks gents...I need to get that 2+ cords of Ash stacked next weekend, then the 3+ cords of Poplar I have as well. Then I can work on getting my wood stove installed :-D
Yeah man, that grass is plaguing me...I'm waiting on one more part to arrive before I can get my mower back online!
That shag will be beautiful in the stove in the winter of 18-19! It's by far my favorite wood to burn.
Im hoping to get mine done soon, this guy I asked for an estimateeither must be really busy or something.
I decided to do the install myself...as long as you maintain all the clearances you need and get quality parts, it's not rocket surgery.
Update: got the new bearing in on Monday, reassembled the hydraulic drive motor on the zero turn after a catastrophic pump failure that sent a chunk of bearing race through the pump housing, and metal filings throughout the drive motor. Got 'er all buttoned up and took for a test drive, then did a little test mow yesterday after work...success! It was a pain, but saved myself several grand over having a shop do the work.
That is a nice looking lawn. Yet, I am amazed at seeing so many pretty lawns...but it is extremely rare to see anyone out enjoying the lawns today. I remember once that it really hit home as it was during a time when I rode bicycle a lot. I was pondering why it might be so when rarely you might meet a young person and even older ones who would freeze their body so they would not have to look at you or even wave to say "Hello." Then it hit me that not only are young afraid of others, they don't play on the grass much anymore unless it is on a football or baseball field. Then it struck me too that once per year I could count on seeing folks enjoying themselves in the lawns and that is graduation party time. Then there seems to be plenty outdoors, at least for a couple hours.
