My TN19 just has 4 small tabs and 4 screws holding the glass in too.

The advantage I see to the long continuous bars (like the NC30 or 13 whatever it was) rather than tabs is less likely to cause a local pressure point stress in the glass causing a crack, likely thermally induced.

Can the door be taken off and the window assembly more easily centered between the upper and lower tabs ?

I haven't worked with this but yes, I did take the door off on a warm day and had the door flat on a table. the tab are too short; barely just touching the glass on either side; top/bottom. I never made new tabs; although I did look for material. It does need to be addressed but I kept an eye on the glass and stopped trying to hold a fire overnight.

Doesn't seem to be a good sign....

So concerned about it during heating season, so unable to shut it down to repair, so eager to blame the factory with a design flaw that seems to be the only one with that problem.

Wanted a new stove to replace it (?) but had never even registered the warranty when it was new! :picard: Then never heard anything again.

Just wait though.....heating season is coming up soon. ;)

I understand. I would just like to get a real world user view. I don't want to make a bad or wrong purchase. I can't afford to make a bad choice.

Use a google search for "englander madison wood stove reviews" and you'll have some choices.

I believe I have been through 5 stoves trying to get the "one". All of them have had good and bad points, one was terrible. What works for one person in one location could be totally opposite in another.
What are you looking to heat?

1100 sq ft ranch style three bedrooms and one bath/ laundry room. But will be adding an extra 600-800 sq in the next few years if I can afford it. I really need the space with 4 daughters.

There are some people over on the Hearth forum that have the Madison
From what I've seen it is a good stove, earlier models had a problem with the setback function but I believe that has been rectified
