It's a waiting game here as far as the pasture goes. I have other higher areas I can start doing some work with the tractor in though after a few days of no rain.
but Between the downed Pine & Hemlock, I can't keep up or burn enough....especially with the Pine we took down around the house. I should sell some to Gasifier .
He'll be needing it due to the time he's gonna be spending on the design and build of that new chicken coop!
I'm wondering if I can trade ole Gasifier some wild leeks for some future eggs. We had planned to be in his area on Monday afternoon but the lacrosse game was canceled so his leeks went to Massena.
The tire track on the right side going up the trail was down 6-8 inches so since I'll be hauling the splitter up soon I decided to fill it with pine needles. The first pic sucks.
Grass cutting will be less frequent now...lawns are starting to burn form too much sun and no rain for a week now. The mornings have a heavy dew (not the drinking kind) but thats pretty much all the moisture they're getting. I made two loads of wood last week in the pre-noon hours to avoid the heat. One was shortly after sunrise, but both trips were a little too much for me! But man oh man...were the deer flies ever out in numbers!
The last two days here, not a bug around so I never bothered to use off but a few days ago the deer fly were out bad. With all the rain the brook has been flowing pretty good but I'm thinking August will be a dry month so the brook will be low. All the rain we had we did allow us to have some nice fires that got rid of plenty of junk pine.
We've been out in the boat and it seems the bugs have been really bad on the water, worse than the woods. It's almost time for another boat trip, this time I'll bring the camera.
Same chit happened to me today . Luckily Dawn didn't hear me yell. There was a stake nearby, so i had to give it a beating. Edit: I missed your other pics, not that kind!
