I got to drive through a snow squall on my way home from VT this afternoon. Its now in the 40's on its way down to 37 overnight. Got some more maple going
It could be because Backwoods Savage is practicing what Locust Post suggests in his signature? "If your wife is fully dressed you need another log on the fire"
The low for the night was supposed to be 43ºF according to the weather guessers. Don't worry about your plants they said. At 11:42 PM a frost advisory pops up on my weather thingy. It's 36ºF outside. So we now have hanging basket flowers in the living room and porch and blankies on some the big pots I planted last weekend outside. My toes and fingers are cold so I'm starting a fire of pine. And making some tea. Screw it, I'm up.
Yup you might as well! Cold toes are a sure sign a fire should be lit! At least you had a heads up on covering the flowers. Im sure they will be fine now that youve taken care of them. Its still quite early for us to be able to put out flowers or anything for that matter but I feel your pain. Ive got a larch/fir fire going at the moment so the stove room is nice and toasty!
Current temp 29° with heavy frost headed up to 50° today. Will run the pellet stove for about an hour here.
Now you understand the statement I refuse to mow the lawn in a snowstorm... I am not well OK maybe a little but not about THAT!
37° and frost is starting to melt 75° for the high today.......Heavy rain on Saturday and Sunday was sure great for the weeds and the all the flooding.......
You guys are getting flooding as well? Seems like lots of areas on both sides of the border this year.
If I recall you are up on a bluff (?) of sorts so hopefully you will be safe. We have a big snow pack here but at least in Eastern BC our rivers are just full and not at flood stage yet so that is good. West of me though a fire chief has been missing for days now while checking on stream levels. Also a landslide took out a few houses in the interior last night or this morning with the occupant of one of the houses missing. The families must be beside themselves not knowing what has happened to their loved ones. Stay safe everyone!!
