Had a fire each night at the cottage; fri and sat; with rekindling both mornings;sat and Sun.
No rain to speak of but lake is still high and I think the dock is going to be alright.

Tonights low will be in the bottom 20's. Yup, the low 20's!

hopefully, that will be the end of freeze danger for awhile.

Burnt some nice kiln dried 2X4 cutoffs, oak, ash, maple at the cottage and garage (yes, two stoves-both Englanders...13 & 30) this weekend making the cool days and mornings very bearable!

Back to the low 30s.. got some uglies of various sorts, and some fresh split pine that had been laying around dead for some years tossing along. I know it's not dry, but I also know the owb has a self cleaning chimney... So I'm not sweating it. ;)

No way am I dipping into the winter hard stuff for a six hour burn. :)

Its currently 1c/35f and I have a load of doug fir/lodgepole pine in the stove tonight to keep the house toasty! Clear skies at the moment so we may get a good frost. It will certainly keep down the bug population at least for a short while.

Low 20's this morning just as they had thought. Day looks as it'll be nice with temps hitting the mid 50's and dry.

Woke up to a wintry mix and the house dropped to 60°. Started up the pellet stove, threw some wood in the oakleaf, and we're sitting at 70°

Rained very hard overnight with snow, now its just raining. Below freezing temps tonight.

It's 32 this morning with a fire going in the Liberty. It snowed overnight and it's still coming down.

It's time I checked the covered wood for the outdoor fireplace, it should be good enough to burn in the Liberty.

Might have gone down to 26 last night, and should be same tonight.
Oak and Maple in the stove before bed.
Last 2-3 days have been really nice with sun and some wind, but the wind makes the 50s seem a little cooler. Should be similar today and the next couple days too.

We have a forecast low of 30 tonight so we'll burn more Cherry. Tomorrow morning we'll burn the last of the Cherry we had scheduled for the winter of 2016-17.

We have two face cord that we had covered for burning in the outside fireplace for about four years so that will be used if needed.

Before I started clearing some pine around the house, I would take some smaller rounds and some uglies of Beech and stack and then cover. We had so much pine that needed reducing that we never used it.

We held off from lighting up the stove this weekend... still about 68° inside, after some 35° + nights past few days, daytime highs mid 60°'s, I'm surprised the interior didn't cool off more.
Every bit we save is BTU's in the next season's bank!

I'm getting conflicting reports for this coming winter, Mrs. Backwoods Savage is actually making her shorts shorter (does that mean a warmer winter?) but Steph at the Weather Channel said it would be a brutal winter.
