Wow. I would not have thought of a place in Alaska having to much air pollution.

It has to do with the weather and location. They've had a problem for quite some time.

We used to have a couple members from there or near there but don't think they are on any more.

I wonder if it is magnified by winter inversions like Salt Lake City?

I believe you are very close in your assessment. Mostly has to do with the extreme cold I believe.

    & then
The EPA/Politicians/Gov't are fighting against running a Natural Gas pipeline from the North slope South to Fairbanks.
    &
Forced a closure of a refinery in North Pole Alaska
fuel is shipped to Fairbanks on the RR.

EPA complains, sets stricter standards, screams & yells
but also fight against any solution to the problem.
    " Do nothing " a government trademark .

    Bassackwards
Afraid to do anything to solve the problem , might loose their job
Should loose their jobs so the problem could be solved

    Just venting. LOL. :D

I read about the gas line.

I agree, i think locals could find the solution if they were left the heck alone.

When the EPA caused the plant that my dad worked for 38 years to shut down forcing my dad into retirement, I said, the EPA should not be allowed to set standards and sanction companies who do not follow the standards unless the EPA provides funding to backup their standards. The EPA should not be able to sanction.
