Holy smokes!!! My keyboard works better than Pallet Pete keyboard post above. I'm sure that's what he meant to type.
We had a hitch in the get-up for about a year but that's all better now. So I went missing a long time too. HE's BAAAAAACCCK........
It is nice to see ya pop up, Gark! Too bad you couldn't drive up to Backwoods Savage's GTG recently.... Live from the 2017 MI GTG @ Backwoods Savage's
Greg that sure is an impressive pile of BTU's ya got there. 18 guys, huh? Bet you'll have to organize some sort of flow chart to keep 'em from bumping into each other! Sure is a nice lean-to you have there also. i may have something like that built onto my garage....
Ain't that the truth! Good one! The rest of the guys can stand around and supervise once those two start working!
We sort of organize like this: 1 sawyer, located in back corner by furnace, he takes care of anything that made it into the pile that's too long 2 guys on smaller splitter 3 guys on timberwolf splitter 6 guys load and stack the trucks and trailers, pulling from pile what doesn't need split, and off splitters 4 guys keep 4 wheel barrows moving from ends of the splitters and edge of pile (this job easy at first, but more hustle needed as pile keeps getting further away 2 guys stack the lean to I usually hang out around the wood shed to stack posts and keep it as straight as I can. Then about every hour everyone takes a new position so they don't wear out too quick! It looks like a little ant colony, but the wood moves around pretty well. Once trucks and trailers are all full, we set up some hand split guys around the perimeter. Try to make it so sawyer and hand splitter never have anyone behind them. And splitter guys are only ones to touch logs once in the slot. This year I ordered 300 chic filet chicken nuggets for the main course of lunch. I expect we will have some pile left, but we should make a huge dent. Will try to snap some pics along the way.
"It looks like a little ant colony" ... this split n stack would make a great time lapse video project...
