I bought a box of these for 2 bucks at tractor supply nice deal. I think ive used these before and the box used to be bigger.
Like a few others have said, I too rake up splitter trash and store the best under cover till burning season. A little newspaper and we are on our way. I get a bunch of it, why not use it?
I have gotten very lazy and though we use the droppings from splitting I tend to use wood pellets because it works better and faster in our stove. Almost instant coal bed.
Normally I think of a torch but I asked awhile back about a free bag of pellets, wondered if they were useful. Another chance may Come around.
Absolutely. Contrary to what you may have been told, wood stoves burn just about anything, well just about anything. When we decided to supplement our oil furnace back in '07, we went with a wood stove because it will burn, well wood, in just about any form including pellets or those saw dust blocks. Now with a pellet stove you can only burn pellets. With my tiny stove, I just throw them in and dispense with those fancy pellet holders that can cost over $100. I have to be around the stove, as they don't last long, but with a Jotul F3CB, I'm used to it.
I guess the question is can you direct me to one of those pellet holders? Im interested as this is an odd option but probably not going to materialize. Strictly want to learn.
Here's one in Amazon Amazon.com: Pellet Basket, Alternative Heating Source Using Wood Pellets in Your Wood Stove or Fireplace: Home Improvement They are called pellet baskets and you probably don't need one.
