I haven't been to our camp in a few years unfortunately, but I got the chance to spend Friday and most of yesterday there. First off it's a 2 hour drive from home through a lot of nice country where there is tons of logging going on as well as general hoarding. Is it just me or does anyone else stare at others stacks and big log piles and wood handling/processing equipment on the road? Of course I took a saw and my ax, this was all I took plus a few clothes. It was supposed to be relaxing weekend just fishing and some hunting but within 15 minutes of being there I spotted me a double poplar blow down and couldn't resist! After that it was getting close to dinner time so with a little snooping spotted a small apple tree someone had cut a while back so I whittled it down for cooking wood with my ax and then sat to enjoy the view from the front yard (maples on the left, locust on the right and a big ol' pear in the middle) Grilled up some quick burgers and hot dogs over the apple and went out to do a little scouting and spent some time the following day surveying the area for wood and even turkeys , found more wood let's just say All in all there's wood in them thar hills!
At least you've had some good weather. It rained most of the weekend and was 40° all weekend here. I had to buy my good weather for the upcoming week
It was a little rainy Friday night and yesterday afternoon but otherwise decent and upper 50's so we lucked out
There are many fine looking stacks out there, for sure. But don't forget about the stacks you have at home- for they are the ones that will keep you warm at night.
Where in New York? We've a camp on 13th. Lake in Warren County. It's the last piece of private land before the lake access area.
Yeah, I'd like to know the general area where y'all's camp is? We're selling our family land and cabin in the Catskills, and I guess I'll be heartbroken about that for years to come....
Yep, but....it is what it is.... I at least got to visit the place of so many vacations of my youth back in May of '14... it was nice, but bittersweet at the same time. But enough of that!
There is a lot of wood in them thar hills but they are also growing leaves! Good thing. Summer is getting closer!

Yes, I enjoyed them thanks, When I have my saw I find great fishing spots. When I have my rod, I find a lot of good wood. We can't win, just enjoy the moment.
