I know I should have. I was merely trying it out today! Jeeze its turning knotty rounds into bubble gum. Hydraulics though. Make the wood look like cheese!
That top delivery smiley basically spelled out my thursday when my new stove arrived. Now this thing and my FHC swag arrived as well! WHOOHOO!
Now that is a Cherry Machine man, where did you purchase it from? I have heard good reviews of DHT splitters.
Lowes. The sale was what got me plus the fact that a weekly rental of a machine here is in upwards of 350-400. Two weeks use of a machine would pay for this. Id rather own it and use it on my own time than give away that money. Plenty of wood opportunities for me
Once you do the math, it really makes sense to buy one, now that splitters have come down a bit on price. Oh, and don't let the vertical splitting only thugs strong-arm you into thinking their way is the only way to split. Try it both ways. You'll see like Ashwatcher and I have that horizontally works more efficiently most times. Only when you have large unweildy rounds is when vertical splitting makes sense for able bodied people.
Those are few here, the large behemoths since I cant get them in my trailer alone. Even the weight may be an issue... I tried it out this afternoon and it works like a charm. Its solid. The math has been done and it works out very well. This thing sells for a bit over a 1,000 in places so if I ever had to i could sell it and not lose money. But Id rather see how long this can last. Will keep my back and shoulders in good standing and I can work on wood at my own pace not at a rentals pace.
This will pay for itself in no time. This was only my 2nd year burning wood and my stove, splitter and saws were all a good investment. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Minus the saw, the other two are taken care of! Im glad I figured out my saw a bit, thinking I needed to get a new one wasn't as necessary.
I do need a cradle. I found the logs falling off a bit of a nuisance. I don't know if they had them at the store but they had them on the 27 ton splitters.
Log Catcher Kit for Log Splitters (Excludes 22 Ton Model 106080) It says it excludes one model of 22 ton though, if it fits yours that is about the same as mine cost a few years back.
Great addition to the arsenal! I had the stipulation from the start, wife knew I wasn't going to split by hand so it was a priority. I stack rounds on the opposite side to allow a place for the other 1/2 to sit. Storage space is limited so something sticking out making it wider would be a negative. I tried mine vertical once, it's not for me... I don't work well on my knees. If it's too big to lift, it gets noodled w/ the saw.
