Mrs TD broke in her new 171 yesterday on a little cherry tree that was too close to the driveway. Today it was time to get this dead ash down. Time to give the 171 a workout The 171 felled and bucked the ash with authority. Well...except for the stump... I broke out the 362 and cut and noodled the stump... cause I could ... Now...I have my sights set on another dead standing ash...
171 and a 362 seems like a really good combo. I know I shouldn't but I'm thinking of selling my 550xp and getting a combo like yours.
Now that is one cute saw !!!!! Never in a million years could I get my wife to try a saw....... I'm jealous.
The 171 was the raffle saw at Dennis GTG. Mrs. TD won it and is all ready to destroy the forest. I have a 241 and the 362. I feel this is a great combo for firewood cutting.
Did it come with a Picco size b & c? That's one thing that really makes the 170/171 run so well....that narrow kerf is the bees knees!
Gee Tim, maybe we should have turned her loose on all the dead ash around here?! Glad both of you like the saw and happy she won it. I think the 170 and 180 come only with the narrow kerf and without it they would not perform quite as well, or I don't think so. The only thing I have noticed is the chain seems to not last as long but perhaps that is because it seems to need sharpening a bit quicker. I still enjoy the 180 which is almost the same size.
Great pics! Mrs. TD put up with bs from 30+ smelly, chainsaw weilding, shine swilling, Jack wagons for 3 days at the gtg, with patience to spare for the trip home with TurboDiesel ! Couldn't think of a better person to win that raffle saw! Those little 171/181's surprise a lot of people! Good saw that punches above its class.
