On two of the drives you don't get the full information as they were part of a Raid array the third drive was an old IDE unit likely can't be read by any of today's systems. The 15 lb hammer scrambled some ICs as well as platters. The drives are toast.

Took the Explorer in for inspection this morning. As I feared would be the case, it failed. It started creaking and groaning going over bumps (pretty much everywhere) a couple of weeks ago. Damage that will be corrected next week: Both front lower ball joints (one is technically still good - electing to get it done at same time), the left rear strut and the parking brake doesn't work at all. If it didn't need it to pass inspection I wouldn't worry about the Parking Brake since I never use it anyway. Of course they don't know what the issue is, so will have to tear it apart to figure it out before I know how much that part will cost.

Will drop it off Tuesday afternoon and pick it up later in the week or the weekend.

And that would be exactly why I picked up the car last winter, I wasn't going to be without a vehicle if the Explorer needed work.

On the Good News front - the oil change was free (I earn a free OC for every on I pay for) and since I bought the truck there, the safety inspection is free, so I just paid $15 for the emissions testing.

And non of the issues kept me from loading it down with leaves and sticks (mostly leaves) and going to the town brush pile for disposal. First picture is from the tailgate and second picture is from the driver's side passenger door. I didn't dare open the opposite door until I got to the dump. Had 10 3 cu/ft bark mulch bags filled, plus 3 Hefty lawn and leaf bags, along with the sticks at the bottom of the pile.

I don't have any room to compost that much. I mulch a lot of leaves (hey, what I have taken to the dump is only from one side of my house - and a short side). I only have 1/3 of an acre and part of that is wet. The trees from the swamp and the lot behind me give me most of their leaves and then there is the huge willow beside the house that sheds limbs and branches constantly.
