I made these mallets from some ash and walnut that I milled. I'm keeping one for myself and giving the other one to the customer for the restaurant booths.

Super nice. They look like wheelwright mallets.

I have a bunch of new to me old iron tools to go through today. I'll see if I can post them up later.

Here are a few things from the weekend. A 1960-70's Wilton vise, 5" wide jaw.

    20161016_133302.jpg

A few gas torches. The small one is a Lenk. I really want to try these out.

    20161016_133452.jpg

Quite a bit here. Slate roofers hammer on the left, a few newer Stanley squares. Two Coes monkey wrenches. Under that a bevel gauge, mid to late 1800's. The brace has an adustable angle bit attachment below it that is really neat. A few hammers up top. A planisher, mason and a blacksmith hammer.

    20161016_134614.jpg

Some edged tools. Brush hook, nothing fancy, a bit rusted. Collins small axe below it. The planes are Stanley, Dunlap and Craftsman. The large curved shears are Pextos, the smaller ones seem to have the name "Kresge" but I'm researching that one. The drawknife is a Dunlap. Very small Stillson Walworth above the pocket knife.

Last one is a H.K. Porter 24" bolt cutter and a Fairmont railroad caliper gauge.

Most of our shops repairs are big stuff . I have some quality 3/4 and 1" air impacts , drills , cut off, and air hammer. Lacked decent 3/8 and 1/2 impacts/ratchet . The cheap 3/8 ratchet I had finally gave up the ship. Ordered this Monday prime Amazon and on my doorstep last nite ! Ooooooo Ahhhhh.:thumbs: No more sockets falling off due to lack of retIning ring!!!

,,,and prolly for a song. I have 3 older grinders like that. Not as beefy but they are better quality than those made today. 1 out of a dumpster(works) and the other 2 from auctions . Don't think I paid more than $5 each .

My dad dropped off a couple of planes to add to the collection.

    Left to right

3 wood planes from MA, NY and OH. First two are "coffin" planes.

Worth brand jack plane. I believe made by PEXTO. No markings cast in the body, just the iron.

    Stanley #4 plane.

Oh yeah, I think it could come in real handy. The jaws have an awesome reach to them too.

Well these aren't vintage. But I've been wanting to upgrade my chisel collection for a while and the price seemed about right for these.

    IMG_0726.JPG IMG_0727.JPG IMG_0728.JPG

Stanley re-released their 750 series socket chisels (made in Sheffield England) and I've read some good reviews about them. I've been looking at vintage made in USA 750's on eBay and they can get pricey. This set was $165 to my door: 1/8, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 5/8, 3/4, 1, 1-1/4, plus leather tool roll.

Nice set. That should cover you from dovetails to joinery.
