Good morning all. Went for my walk and met three big dogs dragging their owner as the dogs spotted a kitty cat! Gardens are starting to look great with colour from the daffodils which are nearly over and tulips blooming. Forsythia is blooming and various trees are too. The magnolia on my walk is starting to leaf as well. It won't be long before it will be in bloom.

Here's a good video on the basics. I work for a company in Michigan that does service and install of all kinds of dairy farm equitment all over the state from small stanchens to large multi- million dollar double parlors and rotaries and everything else. If it's on a dairy farm we do it.

It's very high tech world we live in now. I think our biggest is 120 cow rotary.

A lot of the major farms we deal with are farmers who come here from Europe and build up from small to insanely large farms 3500+ cows per farm. They do get a tax break for seven years I think ( not positive on that length ) but dairy farming on the scale we see now is a major money maker and job provider for the local economies. All that money goes back into the community and farms. Even if they have migrant workers they still half to eat and buy gas locally.

We do a lot of smaller farms too its really a mix in age, size, type and quantity of cows. The vast majority is even if its an old farm is newer computer controlled systems though.

Rotaries have enough cows that they only shut down to wash basically running nonstop.

What would a new rotary cost Pete?

In this area they are always talking about the fact that there is a glut of milk and the farmers are hurt by not being able to get enough money for the milk.

I dont know that as I am not a salesman but I know my friend said the farm he works for was 4.7 million for a smaller non robotic 40 stall rotary with load out bays. Again thats just hearsay.

Our 1200 cow 16 cow inline parlor was 1.0 million; I can only imagine what a 52 cow rotary parlor was.

I know here in the Northeast anyway the dairy farms are getting 18 per hundred weight milk prices, and it costs $20 per hundred weight to produce it. You do the math...
