An old co-worker told me almost the exact same story. Mama cat had kittens under their bed. The came into the bedroom one day and their was fur everywhere. After investigation they realized she had chewed a hole in the window screen and got a rabbit much larger than she was back through the window to her kitties...only he said the window was at least 5' off the ground! :jaw:

Can't blame the cats, right? Aren't rabbits just rodents anyway?

Could have been a jackalope, couldn't tell as she started tossing it in the air... For sure though I know it was not one of the wild kangaroos they released up here.

Yep, poor starving adolescent Lila showed up here with a litter of kittens, when I found where she put them under the barn/garage thing, there were MANY tiny rodent hands and feet scattered around the hole underneath, as well as young rabbit carcasses.

Grand Central Station at our dumpster tonight! Something beens getting in there and scattering our trash, I was embarrassed last week on the way back from the bus pick up when I spotted one of our pellet bags 3 blocks from our house on open land, stopped and picked it up :emb:. We had a HUGE skunk hanging around last fall and assumed he was the culprit, nope (WWW popped him in the azz with lil ones pellet gun).

1st a racoon showed up, I was not aware of ANY racoons out here!! Minutes later the elusive white cat we have not been able to trap and have not seen in months was there :jaw: I assumed it was a boy but yikes, it has more girth now:doh:, no more ferel kittens:picard: a couple minutes later white cat is arching back and pinned ears. The legend of the HUGE black cat is real!! 3 in one night!?! We (neighbor and I) have returned the trap to the rescue site, but I want to get whatever wild cat living out here fixed. I am looking at this, does it look ok? Thinking about setting it in/ontop of the dumpster, ideas?

It is their nature, so I don't blame them. I am just amazed at the size. Mice, sure. Birds, sure. garter snakes, okay. A rabbit dang near as big, or bigger than the cat - seems a bit over ambitious to me :D

Looking at the size of the cat they have in that trap, at 10" x 12", I'm not sure it is big enough. But then again, I've never trapped a cat and maybe that is the size that you got from the rescue before.

I had the same thought! On the other hand, the borrowed trap was bigger and one of the cats we trapped last fall was terrified and thrashed around so bad. Need to rethink this trap:)

Good for you. Better luck then what you have been having. Lets hope these babes get you all to a good start with your new flock.
Next you will need a great pyrenees to keep the predators out.
