Rerail just did my fed return only owe $120.00 this year much better than the $1600.00 last year, on that note back to derailment
A while back someone suggested that we rename the thread - Tax question, beer and food so I don't think we can de-rail or re-rail this thread when all subjects are covered!
I often have been known to drink a beer or two while preparing my tax return. And I never ever loan the government money. I am very happy to be paying a few grand on April 15 so long as I don't get into penalty territory. Think of it this way, if your boss said he was going to give you a dollar an hour less but you can have it back next April if you fill out a bunch of paperwork what would you say? If he said he would give you an extra dollar, interest free, but you need give it back next April what are you going to say?
I submitted my tax return yesterday, while drinking copious amounts of beer. And will be getting back a couple grand. Albeit, it's my earned money that "Uncle Sam" borrowed for the past year. But, that's neither here-nor-there, have you guys tried the new Miller Fortune beer? Very smooth. I know, I brought it back to BEER.
My accountant tells me, look you made the money now pay the taxes and stop whining. if you owe that much; 1) you are not with holding correctly 2) you are making good money 3) you need a new accountant
I do hundreds of returns a year. Most people whine no matter how much they earn or pay. Especially people who make little and get earned income credits. Once that freebie money goes away as they make more, the panic sets in. Some wealthier people don't get overly excited when they have big liabilities. What gets me is the people who don't save the money when they're self employed. It's not that hard to realize you have to put away some of your money to pay the gov't.
Trying to understand is not whining! I should not be paying out nor really getting a return..... I agree I need an accountant and am actually in the process of setting up a couple meetings with a couple good ones.
