I'll be checking this out tomorrow, I just hope it's still good. If this is still good I'll have this off the hill tomorrow and back here to the splitting pile.
I just have to keep an eye on this big old widowmaker, it's the same tree that's in the first two pictures in my original post.
Checked the weather history for last night. Looks like we only dropped to around 35°. Headed up to 64° today.
I always like your photos, keep them coming. looks like you are having a good time scrounging downed wood from your wood lot.
Well Seasoned , we dropped to 31 this morning. Gasifier , working close to that thing put a different meaning to the words pucker factor. Thanks Jnb , I would've had more pics but the sun got to me so I pulled off the hill before I rolled down it. The bigger rounds are still on the hill but down from the widowmaker, I felt good enough to take one load home. We'll see how I feel tomorrow, if everything is "gooder" I'll have more pics. I cut from the top back to the trunk and every time a round came off the Maple would come up some (kept looking at the leaner) but it never moved so that was a very good thing. I parked the rhino up from where I would roll the smaller stuff down.
I felt good enough to get the rest of the rounds today but not good enough to run the saw. I picked up 15 rounds which should give us 50 - 60 splits.
I would say no, that area has both Red & Sugar Maple. I haven't seen any Silver on my runs in a few years, the last one I saw was up top on the side of a very steep hill.
