This was one of the damaged Maples I wanted down today, it's home in the splitting pile. In picture 0156, you can see where the top was blown off it. After bringing the Maple home, I decided to pick two bags of Leeks for some people I had promised them to. Tomorrow should be another day getting some damaged Maple in a different area, they're nothing big but I might as well take them before the rot gets worse.
It rained pretty hard overnight and when I started cutting but stopped about 20 minutes later. That area has plenty of pine so it doesn't get much sun (green tree) so many of the dead pine came down it's like a bomb when off in that area so when I do the trail work I'll take some pictures.
I hope you're going let it season a while, it still looks pretty green. (Sorry, somebody had to say it!) Nice work!
Thanks BigPapi . Like a bunch of the members here, we're set for seasoned wood, 5 plus years up in the stacks today. I'll be moving some nice hardwood from one area to another so we can drop a pine near the house so the house gets more morning sun.
Well you still gotta work on year 6 and 7...then those turn to years 5 and 4. Nice score though. The green reminds me when you walk in the Hoa Rainforest in the Olympic mountain range here. That's rainy.
