I wondered if it had to do with the one the Zoo killed. Did not read it all, but saw the headline.

I have a set of Cragar Soft 8's on mine, have had them for quite a while. Not a huge fan of OEM wheels of any kind, but they look pretty good nowadays (yours look nice btw). I have experimented with the stock intake, but saw a drop in mileage. I don't know that I have a good picture of my truck, but it does hold a special place in my heart lol.
I have had a tonneau on it since it was new (or close to it). I love having one, just to keep what ever I have in the bed, not in sight.
And I WILL be getting a PCM tune! It has been slipping my mind, and I have been procrastinating. Found the guy to do it, just haven't pulled it out and sent it to him yet. Enough of me derailing your thread, very nice truck! My dad retired from GM, and we drive GM vehicles. I am just a Chevy guy by heart, cant help it :).

I also had a Fitch (the inline type) on mine. That has been on it from the very beginning and I never got the chance to remove it for testing purposes. I am considering doing it again on the new truck but they are quite pricey.

With those wheels, I wanted a look that could have been OEM but wasn't. IMO, GM should have offered something like my setup. No rub, no scrub, no MPG hit and the speedo was dead on. I got a lot of, "that's the best running/looking stock Canyon I've ever driven/seen." Ok, so it wasn't exactly bone stock but I never touched anything on the long block. Just let it breathe and gave it some decent shoes.

Don't worry about derailing the thread, this is FHC and that kind of thing happens. Love the direction things turn sometimes! If a derail gets some momentum, I'll usually grab the wayward posts and create a new thread.

Been driving GM trucks ever since I could see over the dash. ;)

Took the trailer for a test spin today. The truck does amazing things. While pulling hard up a snow covered hill, the Stabilitrak system is activating individual wheel brakes to control wheel spin. I am also in LOVE with the integrated brake controller. It works every bit as well as I could hope for.

It's a viable rig as is but I do think I'm going to want some weight distributing hitch hardware for that trailer. It's awfully tongue heavy and a WD hitch would improve the ride and carry the tongue a bit higher.

The tow/haul mode does a great job of optimizing the 6 speed auto for heavy loads too. Automatically downshifting and holding the trailer back with engine braking while shutting the fuel injection off to save fuel. Trucks have come a LONG ways in recent years.

Wait until the truck kicks sideways and you'll really be amazed with Stabilitrac. Hard to spin out even when trying.

It's not setup with the Max Trailer (NHT) package but I've yet to see one of those sitting on a dealer lot. That would kick it up to a nearly 11,000lb tow rating. It's still rated to pull well over 9000 lbs which should be more than enough for my purposes.

One of the first things that caught my eye in the interior was the integrated brake controller. I have a top-of-the-line Tekonsha Prodigy 3 add-on controller and while it works well, it doesn't hold a candle to the one built into the truck. The main difference being the truck's controller applies the trailer brakes based on brake pedal pressure rather than sensing changes in inertia like the Prodigy does. The built in also is tied in with the truck's ABS and Stabilitrak systems which is something no aftermarket controller is currently capable of IIRC.

The built-in does have one disadvantage however. It cannot be used with a electric over hydraulic trailer brake system like the Prodigy can.

9000 should be more than enough.
What's the max weight for your trailer?

The mobile shop trailer is 7000 GVWR, I plan to purchase a wood/equipment hauler in the near future I might spec 5000lb axles (10,000 GVWR) on that one just because. :)

That would be fantastic. Unfortunately dump trailers tend to be lousy (and heavy!) equipment trailers. So mine might have to have a "two hand" dump body. ;)

    Nice truck.

You're right...trucks have come a long way in the past several years. I have a '09 Ford F-150 and the traction and stability control and tow/haul mode work as advertised. Almost impossible to get it sideways (no more dirt-tracking on gravel roads though :() and the engine breaking is great when towing. Mine has the pigtail for the integrated TBC but I don't tow anything heavy enough to justify one, yet. Should be plug and play when the time comes though.

Dump trailers are 3/4 ton + territory, IMO.

LOVE the Silverado !!! Should treat you just fine !!
Do you get leather seats on the LT ?
Ive always had cloth or vinyl...then I got my lil used Honda CRV..it has heated leather seats...and now I wonder how I ever got along without em :) It heats the butt and lumbar..better than a heating pad on the old back !!

You gotta go up to the LTZ to get leather. Heated cloth seats is a rare and expensive ($250) option. My wife's Terrain has heated cloth seats. I would love to have them in mine as I really prefer cloth to leather, especially in a truck.

I drive a 2012 colorado for work. Its the inline 5 and 4x4 with 16" alloys. I dont have the z71. Not even a 4x4 sticker. Best it gets is 19mpg on interstate. Normally around for work on back roads I get 17-18 mpg.

Basically the same truck with few differences. The 3.7L is a slight improvement over the 3.5L I had. The stance is different with the smaller tires if your truck isn't a Z71 but the frame and suspension setup should be similar. Glad to hear they still get decent mileage. Can't wait to see how the new Canyon DIESEL turns out. ;)

    I
I have a feeling that this one will be doing most of its wood hauling via trailer.

I generally cut bigger trees, 20"+, and the load height of a pickup vs a trailer is killer unless I have a tractor available. Plus these new trucks tow a helluva lot more than they can haul in the bed.

Very true… a trailer hauls a whole lot more weight. Have had a few good ones over the years. I've started gearing up my 5'x12' to be a good height work deck for the splitter mounted upright, so it's kind of "out of service" for easy hauls to our cabin, an hour away. Not totally… I can get gear off to use it… but requires a fair amount of work. That's not good. By the time I get the trailer ready to haul… I've developed a bad case of lackawanna… :zip:

The shock at the pumps may have prompted a trade in....
When I bought my 2500 back in '09, I nearly made my pants all poopy after the first month of filling it!
