Nice job. Glad to see you were able to get out in this January thaw. We lost some snow today, and the waterways are melting a bit. Wish i got a picture of the same 2 eagles i saw last week hovering over the river, this time they were standing on some big ice damm in the river. Amazing sight!

Looking at the forecast for this month it doesn't seem like we have any frigid weather coming in, we're saving our better wood and pellets this year.

February up here can be one cold azz month but we'll see.

In a "normal" winter, does the timber dry out and present a fire hazard or does the snow load take care of that?

The snow on the ground takes care of it.

I took care of the damaged Birch and some of the dead branches off a dead downed Pine at the entrance to the hill in the back.

I've been looking for a new trail into the bowl so depending on what's on the other side of these two downed Hemlocks, this could be it.

It would be much easier to get the tractor with the backhoe on it through the new trail. If I can get the new trail in then I can work on a better trail in up top, pic 1004. 102_1007.JPG

Saturday and Sunday I did some trail work (no pics, the batteries were dead) Saturday I was cleaning up a trail to an area I haven't been in two years.........what a freakin mess. I'll get some pics next time I'm up there.

I only had one trail in but my plan is having two trails in, that way if some chit comes down across one trail, we'll still have another way in.

:picard:You must of been eating a portion of my Cinnamon Rolls again  instead of taking care of that area. Your Mrs. may have to call Backwoods Savage and have him trailer the Kubota over to your place to pick up your slack.:D

Yup, plenty of work not getting done but we do have five years of wood up along with what I cut this winter and spring.

I busted my azz plenty of years so I could take it easy so this is the year easy will play out.

Actually the last two weeks we've been dog sitting for a family member but that ends tomorrow. He's a very good dog and it was nice having him.

We finally got the backhoe on the 4540 with the help of Dave from the Wood Chop Shop, I worked on getting it on yesterday for about two hours with chit for luck and it took another hour today. I need it in a better place since the place I had it on wasn't very firm......just another job that needs to be done before winter.

You've been busting your azz on other things so don't worry about it, I won't tell U what Mrs. Backwoods Savage said about you burning green wood! :loco: :picard::whistle::zip::bug:

Tomorrow I'll be doing some trail work for a walking/rhino trail in this area. This will lead us to the area I just bucked up the Cherry in. 102_0971-001.JPG

This picture will lead to the above picture, it should be moving dead chit out of the way. I'll have better pictures tomorrow night. 100_0186-002.JPG

We finished the second half of the walking trail today, we're keeping this end sort of private so no pictures.
