Son's Bed Build

building a bed for my son out of popular that my brother mailed practicing my mortise and tenon and other joints as I learn more about timber framing I'll keep this thread updated with progress.

 

Mortises for headboard cut, gotta say poplar cuts easier than doug fir!

Poplar is a great wood to work! Probably one of the most underrated local wood.

 

Looks like the bench is working out. Did you bore out those mortise holes first? Poplar is pretty decent for projects. I've had a few 1x's twist out a little.

I'll be looking forward to more pics.

Cut the holes with a chisel.

 

Have a few hundred bf in slabs!
