I had my first CL fire wood pick up today. About 20 minutes from me a guy had close to a cord of oak, looks like it's been seasoning for a while. I loaded up my Explorer and got home to start splitting/stacking.
Hopefully I can go back over the weekend and pick up some more.
I'm am glad I have been listening to all of you here about how important it is to split and stack asap.
I split These rounds and man I couldn't believe how green they looked, some of the moisture readings were well above 20%

Free oak!! That's gteat. Go, quick get more!

I'm surprised the moisture reading wasn't higher. Wood left in rounds just won't season.

At some spots on the interior of the splits the moisture readings we out of the range of the meter and a reading on the end were below 10%. (Forgot to add that earlier)

I hope he still has the rest of the oak rounds available over the weekend. His listing has been up for about a month.

Wow nice! That's how I felt when I got a confirmed oak pick up. The wait is long but should be worth it in the run. Collection is necessary for our vice...

They can't all be bad ones, right?

Not all wood left in the round doesn't season. That said, it can rot, season, or do nothing and not season. If you split it, there's a near 100% chance it will simply just start to season, provided it's off the ground.

    That said, nice score!

I've just never seen logs delivered in those preportions. Without a splitter, one could feel the pinch...
