Friend of mine occasionally works near RR tracks and grabbed a few spikes that he found discarded into the ditch after repair was done on the track. Said he always wanted a RR spike coat rack. Found a warped split post in the junk dumpster at work and then found some 2x6 scraps. My only input was the 4 small nails, stain and varnish, a few screws and an old insulator that has been in the garage for years and my time to rough up the lumber to make it look old. Wala...Merry Christmas. Flash kind gave a little blue/gray look so pics aren't quite true to color. I even carved his cattle brand into the post.
My wife calls me a hoarder, Sanford and son on roids, dumpster diver deranged...I call myself the frugal kaiser of creativity.
Nice coat rack Greenstick . It has a nice rustic look to it. Add me to the collectors of crap list. It will all get used someday.
Greenstick, Nice coat rack. I like the glass wire thing on top. Those used to be pretty hard to come by. i have a couple so, you gave me an idea how to use one creatively.
I built this recently for a benefit auction for a coworker who has been diagnosed with a really aggressive form of bone cancer. I hope it sells high to help with their building medical bills. I hope the new owner makes sure they hit studs when they hang it!
While recovering from my logging accident, I built Katie a sliding barn type door for our main bathroom. It allows a lot more room in our bathroom.
