We had to put up a gate for the stairs, never bothered with the stove. They still won't do anything with the stove now and the oldest is 14, youngest 6.

I always like the look of black iron around a hearth it looks rustic. That would be a knee breaker around my house though.

:dex::rootintootin::dancer: I remember taking the gates down from both our woodstoves (only source of heat at the time before the pellet stove furnace thing), what a celebration!!!

And yep Pallet Pete I was using our plastic baby gate to support me while stoking it 2 am one morning during that -37* F spell a couple years ago via my knees leaning on it and it gave way, fractured a rib as I went down with an armful of wood and doing my best to avoid a faceplant into the hot stove :pain::picard:

I was laughing when it happened too. Well after I woke up and popped my shoulder back in then I was laughing....  The dog hid for a couple hours and the gate went from being an anti child gate to a badly designed sled full of aeration holes and then a pile of broken plastic death splinters.:hair: No beer either!

No accidents here, thankfully for child, dog, or grown up. Already found a home for it, my brother in law has a baby on the way and they have a pellet stove.
