I acquired this saw a few months back. They were first sold as Reed Prentice then sold to Craftsman and David Bradley. 103cc engine built by McCulloch. It would run but not rev up. They fuel system is all gummed and the carburetor was the darnedest thing to get to and like none I have seen. Hopefully in a few weeks I can have it running well. Don't mind the mess in my shop and on the saw. A few hours in the ultrasonic cleaner and hopefully it will be good and clean.
I just saw an old kick start saw at the pawn shop and couldn't pull the trigger. $300 of rust and neglect its killing me I might go back and get it. Your feeding my guilt with the old craftsman!
The guy I bought them all from has more. I think of going back again. I got another vintage craftsman in the lot but haven't done much to it yet. A kick start saw that's interesting at least get a picture of it.
Yes Eric and believe me you know it when you pick it up. I'll have to get a picture of the bar and stinger handle on it too.
Me too. It's cool how they pressurize the fuel tank so it can run in any position. Personally I wouldn't mess with the guy that turns this thing on its and drops a tree.
This guy looks like he know his way around those saws. From what it looks like on his contact page I bet chainsaw guy to chainsaw guy he would offer assistance. This Old Chainsaw | Home
After everything that would fit took a bath in the ultrasonic cleaner the rest was degreased and pressure washed it's starting to go back together. I had to make a few new gaskets and soak the diaphragm in brake fluid I'm hoping it will run.
