Same here but I generally use at least Fram's better filters. Our age group (54 this month) comes from a different era-we HAD to work on our cars to keep them running, but they also were easier to learn back then. Some things havnt changed but some have. Many today dont have a clue on basic-medium repairs that can be done yourself.

I am not vigilant on 3K changes. Using Synthetic now helps there but even on my 97 Subaru I would go 6-7K between changes on dino oil (Castrol) and Fram filters. That engine was still running flawlessly at 302K miles when I sold it.

Well if they could properly handle their 1's and 0's it wouldn't go busted.

Here's pricing on the RidgeLine from RockAuto......is it really that much more to get a good filter than a crappy Fram?

Oil filters and air filters haven't changed much, unless you want to put a K&N air filter in......Have one in the TrailBlazer, and have only cleaned it 2X. (good for 100K unless you're going off-road or racing on dirt).

Regular trips to the junk yard too where they let you know approx where you could find the right vehicle and you remove the oart yourself. Once in a while the guy with the torch might be passing by and help you out a bit

Well that's because it's encoded in *nix - all the zeros and one's are reversed, vs. *blows. :p

Wait, I just remembered I used OEM on the back-thats why they worked just fine. One did hang up in the end but the others were worn to the point of being done as well.

Oh and Ridglines all wear faster on the rears than the fronts.

Back in the day it was great you would go to the junkyard and there would be old muscle cars sitting there all wrecked and junked..... I miss those days

Same on the Taurus - dual piston calipers on the front, tiny calipers & pads on the back.
