Thought of you yesterday G. Woman waits until day before Easter and the day before her daughter leaves to go back to college to drop car off for safety check. Husband says guy who put front brakes on upstate where daughter goes to school said rear brakes were not great and that was a while ago. Yup rears were nearly metal to metal. Had to go with Napa pads and rotors. Cleaned it all up and pads didn't fit well in the brackets. Had to "massage" things a bit. Then the right rear caliper doesn't want to go in the last little bit. 3pm. and Napa is closed and advanced doesn't have one. Finally worked the caliper so I felt it would work right. Test drove and checked brake temps with IR gun and all was well. Hate having to "massage" things. Rather use OE or ultra premium parts.

    Doggy

I also liked the filter media & construction of the Wix filter installed on the Taurus last fall - good quality, no issues.

My pref. would be either OEM or Wix, but pretty much any name-brand will be fine. When you start talking OIL filters, then things change.

I remember that when I did the front pads with NAPA. Had to file the tabs a bit. Not using them again.
Not sure about the rear but those did last quite a while until one hung up.

Well, my go-to is always Wix, when I can get them local, or if I have to order online from RockAuto, or wherever is the cheapest. Other good filters are OEM 'Yota, NAPA Gold (Wix), CarQuest Gold(Wix), K&N, Mobil 1, or Purolator Pure 1.

Our race engine builder will ONLY allow Wix or equiv. on the motors.....and they're $45K.

DO NOT accept a Fram as the "toss-in" filter. AKA Junk.....they are riding on just their name.

Mobil 1 oil is great stuff, or Amsoil (if you have the $$....it is THE original synthetic). My '02 Trailblazer (bought in July of '01) has had nothing but Mobil 1 since 1st oil change, and it now has 240K miles.....engine never been apart, and starts & idles as new. Still gets 20MPG on the highway, 16.6 avg. around town.

Weird thing here-My Ridge is 2009 and that year they added a MAF between the air box and engine. OEM air filter has a different part number at the 2009 break but aftermarket does not change at all from 2006-2014.

I use Mobil One. Might stock up on some WIX oil filters and change from the Fram filters. Like you, they are harder to find locally.

Regarding the air filter, on RockAuto the NAPA and WIX filters are the same numbers so that was a tip off that NAPA is WIX

I've seen it both ways so take your pick and as Larry says it comes in two general forms one taken twice a day and one taken once a day (Extended release) the kicker with met is it has a sliding biological half life from 3 hrs to 9 hours. Mine was at about 6 hours when I was discharged from rehab. It is now about 3 which is why the doc has changed it. This last change should keep my BP below my target. The drug is used for many things but it is effective on my BP. The stuff has many side effect, Larry spoke to one of them. The .4 mg Flowmax or its generic (ask LW), aka pizzing pill can counteract that side effect.

Doggy, dunno if this helps, but was very impressed with the Fenco rebuilt calipers installed on the Taurus this week: all new quality seals / pistons, pins, and bolt hardware, (2) QC and Inspection tags - you could tell right away there was a high standard in-place for the rebuild.

AFAIK those are carried by Advance Auto / Pep Boys, etc. - I scored them $50 each, with bracket online w/ discount code, dunno what the 'jobber' cost would be. These were listed as 'unloaded w/ bracket', but were actually 'semi-loaded', just needed pads & original factory bracket bolts to complete the install.

Here's a pic (sorry no close up) for anyone interested:

Only posting FYI, options are good, when parts are needed.

    Happy Easter everyone!

Well that MPC-HT works sort of. They now have a doctor dump of a crash of Rouge One which the LG TV had no issues.

I'm in the process of moving sand for a sand box.

I've been chitting around with cars since I'm 16...I'll be 49 next month. I've used every filter (air and oil) under the sun (Kmart, STP, Fram, Supertech, Purolator, Wix, Motorcraft, AC Delco, etc.) and have not had any issues with any of them. Yeah, some may filter better than others but in the end if you change oil, like your supposed to, IMO it really doesn't matter what you use.

    Thanks for the code.

My 2006 Kawasaki Vulcan 1600 used the same filter as the Honda Ridgeline.

Like you, been working and racing cars since I was 16, but why use a crappy oil filter like Fram that will allow dirt to circulate in the engine, even if you DO change it as required. A real good Wix is about the same price.
